I’m asking on behalf of a friend. My friends ex boyfriend recently went to jail for 3 robbery 1st degree, he wasn’t arrested during the act. He has been borrowing her car recently and was pulled over, arrested, and police impounded her car. She is trying to retrieve her car but police are telling her that she’s not allowed to get it until after he’s proven guilty or not guilty. She asked if her car was used in the robberies but their response is “it’s an ongoing case and they aren’t allowed to say. My question is, are they allowed to keep her car that long? If they are saying that they have evidence in the car shouldn’t they collect it and put it in evidence collection?
